A strong school begins with a safe environment. We build and renovate classrooms and toilet buildings to ensure children have a secure and dignified place to learn. All toilet facilities are constructed as gender separated to support privacy, safety and attendance, especially for girls. In Nepal, construction is carried out by our own experienced teams, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency and close collaboration with local communities. Improved facilities support attendance, wellbeing and a better overall learning experience.

Learning goes beyond the classroom. We develop libraries, computer labs and science facilities that give students access to knowledge, technology and better learning conditions. These spaces support active learning and help students engage more fully in their education.

We strengthen education by investing in teachers. Through training, coaching and ongoing support, teachers develop the skills to deliver effective lessons and support all students in the classroom. We focus on structured pedagogy that is integrated into the national curriculum, helping teachers plan and deliver lessons in a clear and consistent way. At the same time, we apply teaching at the right level to ensure that students learn based on their actual ability, not just their grade. This leads to stronger learning outcomes over time.

We support students to succeed in school and beyond. Through remedial learning, literacy programmes and career guidance, students receive the support they need to progress academically and make informed decisions about their future. We also establish child clubs in schools, creating spaces where students can build confidence, take initiative and support each other. Alongside this, we focus on life skills such as communication, self awareness and decision making. In a Nepali context, these skills are essential in helping students navigate social expectations, build resilience and pursue opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings.

We work with families to remove financial barriers to education. Through the micro entrepreneurship programme, parents build sustainable income sources that allow them to support their children’s schooling and create more stable households. The programme is centred around the School Management Committee, helping identify and support the most needy and marginalised parents. This ensures that support reaches the families who need it most and strengthens the connection between schools and communities.

In eastern Nepal, we support coffee farming as a pathway to stable income. Families receive training in cultivation, processing and quality improvement, along with access to seedlings, tools and ongoing technical support. This helps increase both productivity and the value of their harvest. We work in partnership with Lekali Coffee to connect farmers to reliable markets and strengthen the value chain from production to export. This ensures that farmers can sell their coffee at fair and stable prices. Increased income strengthens local communities and makes it easier for families to keep their children in school.

We prepare young people for a changing world. Through our IT academy, students gain practical digital skills and access to modern technology. This creates opportunities to work online, earn an income and build a future without leaving their community. In Taplejung, we have constructed a state of the art IT academy that now serves as a hub for graduates and the wider local community. It provides a dedicated space for learning, collaboration and continued access to digital work opportunities.
