Job Title: Education Program Officer

Job location: Nanyuki

Reports to: Head of Programs

Contract type: Annual, performance-based, with a 3-month probation period.

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to lead the implementation of a comprehensive education program that enhances the quality of teaching and learning. By focusing on teacher training, digital literacy, STEM & languages, life skills, school management, leadership capacity building, individualized learning, and children’s clubs, the Education Officer will improve overall learning outcomes and foster a conducive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

·         Facilitate training sessions on Competency-Based Pedagogy (CBC) for educators.

·         Oversee digital literacy integration.

·         Facilitate STEM & language training workshops for teachers.

·         Facilitate CBC core competencies in life skills training, including critical thinking & problem-solving, collaboration and communication, imagination and creativity, self-efficacy & learning to learn, and citizenship.

·         Facilitate capacity-building sessions for school management and leadership teams.

·         Implement and support individualized learning programs for students.

·         Establish and support children’s clubs to enhance extracurricular activities.

·         Facilitate capacity building for Parent Associations (PAs) and Boards of Management on effective governance.

·         Support schools in designing and implementing effective school improvement plans.

·         Organize and conduct parental engagement forums to foster collaboration between parents and educators.

·         Monitor and evaluate the integration of core competencies into teaching practices.

·         Regularly assess and report on the effectiveness and impact of various programs.

·         Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjustments to program strategies.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.

  2. Science and language teachers preferred.

  3. Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar position.

  4. Certification: Training of Trainers certification.

  5. Expertise: Proven experience in implementing Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), digital literacy, STEM, languages, and life skills in education.

  6. Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

  7. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
