Saraswati Hangpang Secondary School
In 2017, Human Practice Foundation visited Saraswati Hangpang Secondary School located in the Himalayan mountains of the Taplejung District. The school had no educational facilities and the old, dark, and timeworn buildings were unsuitable for teaching, and the school had insufficient space for the 400 enrolled students.
Later in 2017, Human Practice Foundation the approach at the school. Since then, we have constructed a new, modern, disabled-friendly 8-classroom building, installed a library, a computer room, a science lab, a playground, a teaching friendly kitchen, provided school equipment, and constructed new sanitary facilities with gender-divided toilets.
We have initiated Teachers Training in their respective subjects and teaching methods as well as trained the school management. Furthermore, we have conducted training in health and social entrepreneurship. All this trough creating Quality Education for the 400 enrolled students.
In two years, the attendance rate has increased by 15%, the learning achievement by 9%, and the enrollment by 4%. The government has now selected the school as one of two model schools in the Taplejung District due to its recent achievements and improvements.
In total, we have now completed projects at 54 schools.
